Why Use a Doula?
My mission as a doula is to be an advocate for birthing mothers so that they can have a safe, satisfying, and beautiful birth experience. My wish is for all women to feel empowered by their birth so that they can become confident mothers.
Women who have a clear understanding of their options for labor and birth are able to make informed choices which leads to a happier birth experience. As a doula, I am committed to supporting those choices.
By having me present as your doula, I can help your birth partner participate at his/her own comfort level. I can also provide your partner with adequate rest and nourishment if labor becomes long or intense.
With many routine hospital protocols, a rising cesarean rate, and often a high nurse to patient ratio, I can assure you get the care you need and deserve during this critical time.
As a doula, I can offer suggestions for comfort and progression of labor, information about your options, and continuous support for the choices you make.
Research
studies have found that when doulas attend births, labors are shorter
and there are fewer complications. There is less need for Pitocin to
speed labor, for forceps or vacuum extractor deliveries, or for pain
medication, epidurals, or cesarean deliveries. Babies are healthier and
they breastfeed more easily.
Don't give birth without a doula!
